Early Bird Band - Paul Edis (piano /reeds) / Emily McDermott (vocals) / Lucien Guest (trumpet) / Haaruun Miller (soprano / alto) / Tom Henerey (guitar) / Alex Shipsey (bass) / Dylan Thompson (drums). Led by pianist and composer Paul Edis, the Early Bird Band is made up of some of the most talented young jazz musicians from the North East. Their repertoire includes straight-ahead classics form the Great American Songbook alongside original material written by the band.
Alice Grace Quartet - AAlice Grace is a British jazz singer who’s career began touring with established UK jazz big band The National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) and guest singing with the James Pearson Trio at the famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, before landing a place to continue her musical education at the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Since graduating she has performed all over the world including a two year stint in the UAE. Now a resident of Newcastle she often works with the Strictly Smokin’ Big For this concert she brings her own quartet to Blaydon featuring Mark Williams (guitar), Paul Grainger (double bass) and Russ Morgan (drums).
Noel Dennis Quartet - trumpeter Noel has worked alongside the likes of Andy Sheppard, John Warren, Tommy Smith, John Surman, Mark Nightingale, Tim Garland, Bob Mintzer and many other top musicians and composers. Noel is joined by pianist Paul Edis, bassist Andy Champion and drummer Russ Morgan.
